4 Eco-Friendly Bathroom Cleaning Products You Can Make At Home Today

If there are two things that almost all of us agree with, it’s free stuff and eco-friendly stuff. Both have big benefits for different reasons, not least for your wallet and – of course – mother nature herself. In today’s blog post, we’ll share 4 cleaning products (that you can make at home today) which aren’t just affordable, but are also incredibly eco-friendly. Sound like a good deal? Then read on!

4. Bathroom mould remover

Mould is a stubborn problem that almost all bathrooms will suffer from at some point. But if you’d rather not reach for those chemical-based cleaning products, there is a way you can tackle it yourself. First, mix a teaspoon of eco-friendly washing up liquid with 200ml of baking powder, then add as much water as you need to form a paste. Apply the paste to the mould, then leave for a couple of hours. Come back, wash away the remaining paste with some warm water and you should be left with a much cleaner surface!

3. Home-made bathroom air freshener

You don’t need us to explain why an air freshener is so essential in the bathroom, but you also don’t need to turn to a branded product with who-knows-what inside it. Instead, create your own eco-friendly bathroom air freshener (or odour neutraliser) by taking 1 tablespoon of baking soda (not baking powder, mind you), then adding around 5 drops of your favourite essential oil. Mix until you have a paste-like substance, then place this into a small spray bottle. Add enough warm water to fill the bottle, then shake, shake, shake! You’ll now have a very effective odour neutralising spray that cost pennies and won’t cost the earth, either.

2. Eco-friendly glass and mirror cleaner

Glass is one of the most common materials in any bathroom, so it’s important you have a reliable cleaner you can turn to. In order to create your very own home-made glass cleaner, simply mix together 250ml of white vinegar with 500ml of water. Finally, add a few drops of eco-friendly washing up liquid and add the whole mixture to a spray bottle. It may not smell too appealing, but with this spray to hand, you’ll enjoy streak-free glass surfaces not just in your bathroom, but the whole house!

1. All-in-one bathroom surface cleaner

Finally, we’ll leave you with an absolute bathroom cleaning essential: the all-in-one bathroom surface cleaner. You can use this on everything from your toilet cistern to your tiles and sinks. To create a spray bottle’s worth, simply mix 50ml of white vinegar with enough warm water to fill the bottle. Next, add about two tablespoons of eco-friendly washing up liquid, and finally (if you can find some), add a tablespoon of borax too. You can also throw in some essential oils, like tea tree, to give your ultimate eco-friendly cleaning spray a nice aroma.

Getting your bathroom looking clean-as-a-whistle doesn’t need to be pricey (or bad for the environment), and we hope our suggestions above have proven that. Want even more expert bathroom advice? Call The Whirlpool Bath Shop team now on 0800 028 6174.
